Syrah at Chalk Hill thrives on a South facing vineyard which allows for optimum ripeness of the varietal. The first vintage of Syrah released at Chalk Hill is the 2006 vintage. The wine is produced using 100% malolactic fermentation with weekly batonnage.

First planted in 2004, the Estate Syrah grows on one of our steepest, rockiest south-facing vineyards. At Chalk Hill, the Syrah production is very limited, producing a mere few hundred cases each vintage. The Estate Syrah is bottled unfined and unfiltered. The resulting wine has very supple tannins and exhibits aromas of lavender, black berries and plums.
